Jon Sasaki is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist who explores many concurrent streams
of inquiry that regularly intertwine in surprising ways. For the past decade his Japanese
Canadian heritage has figured prominently in his practice, with numerous projects exploring the
history and culture from an Ontario Yonsei perspective. His work often stages inefficiencies,
absurd or impossible tasks as prompts for ad hoc problem solving. Sasaki’s work has been
exhibited in solo exhibitions at The Esker Foundation, (Calgary, AB); The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, (Kleinburg, ON); The Richmond Art Gallery; The Rooms (St. John’s Nfld); and the Art Gallery of Ontario. He has participated in recent group exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, (Seoul, South Korea); The Bentway, (Toronto); The Canadian Embassy in Japan(Tokyo); and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (Toronto, ON). He is represented in Toronto by Clint Roenisch gallery.
